People's Agency of Nationalities could be created in Russia

A Federal Agency of Nationalities is planned to be created in Russia, it will implement state policy in the sphere of inter-ethnic and ethno-confessional relations, Izvestia newspaper writes.According to the newspaper, the proposal to create a government agency is mandated up to April 15th. However, there weren't any comments from the press service of the Prime Minister.

He had been the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory for 8 years before moving to the Stavropol Territory. In January 2010, Khloponin became the plenipotentiary presidential envoy to the North Caucasus and vice prime minister of Russia.

Russian vice PM expects North Caucasus to help national economy

Russian Vice Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin, supervising the development of the North Caucasus, said that the region's agriculture will make a serious contribution to import displacement in 2015, RIA Novosti reports. The official noted that Kabardino-Balkaria was expanding apple orchards, Karachay-Cherkessia and Stavropol Territory were developing crop farming. The import-displacement policy in Russia became actual in the light of mutual sanctions imposed by Russia, the U.S., the EU and other states.

Russian Vice Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin said at a session of the Russian-South Ossetian intergovernmental commission for socio-economic cooperation in Moscow that Russia will continue supporting South Ossetia despite economic problems and Western sanctions, Kommersant reports.South Ossetia will have received over 9 billion rubles by 2017.Khloponin noted that attendees of the session discussed aid in socio-economic development and rounded up progress in 2012-2013. The vice prime minister added that the current state of relations were satisfactory.

The 2nd Forum of Mass Media of the North Caucasian Federal District has opened in Pyatigorsk (Stavropol Territory). The forum is dedicated to truthful information from the North Caucasus, release of regional media products on the federal information space, cooperation of mass media with heads of organizations realizing large investment, social and cultural projects in the NCFD. Attendees of the forum will visit the Arkhyz all-season tourism complex on December 3 to attend a round-table conference with Northern Caucasus Resorts Director General Sergey Vereshchagin.

The Russian Cabinet has released a large list of decisions for development of industry in the North Caucasian Federal District and import displacement. The list was made after a session of the governmental commission in Nalchik. It includes development of state guarantees for investment projects. A working group was formed to control industrial development in the North Caucasus, Vice Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin will receive reports of the group.

Russian government rejects Matlas Resort

The Russian government rejected construction of the Matlas Resort in Dagestan. Alexander Khloponin announced the decision yesterday.The former plenipotentiary presidential envoy in the NCFD who previously supported the idea of construction of the mountain ski resort in Dagestan stated that the project wouldn’t be fulfilled.According to the vice-premier, Matlas would demand huge investments.
