Today, the 24th International Artistic Gymnastics Tournament Mikhail Voronin Cup finished in Moscow. This tournament is held since 1993 and is very popular both with Russian and foreign athletes. 164 athletes from 26 countries participated in the current competition. The leader in junior and seniors' performances was traditionally the Russian national team. Azerbaijan won a silver medal in the women's free exercises and two bronze medals in women's team all-around competitions and in the balance beam individual finals.

The trainer of the Azerbaijani women's gymnastics team, Gennady Khorkhakov, noted that it was already the 8th international tournament for Azerbaijani gymnasts during this year: "They are tired. But it was necessary to finish this year. The girls gathered their strength. Something did not work out, something was done well. There were difficulties as well. And now, you see, there are medals and a cup. In sports, something always goes right and something goes wrong. But we are working for medals. Big sports means great medals.’’

Azerbaijani gymnast Marina Nekrasova, who won all three medals, is satisfied with her achievements in the outgoing year: "We tried a new program. At the World Cup, I did not show everything I could. Here, we decided to complicate the program. Something was done well, something was not. "

One of the participants of the tournament was Olympic record-holder, a gymnast from Uzbekistan Oksana Chusovitina, included in the Guinness Book of Records in 2016. "I'm grateful that they invited me here. I came with pleasure. I am very glad that I was able to win and please the audience. I am happy and very satisfied with my performances. It was a pleasure to see everyone, congratulate everyone on the coming New Year and wish everyone good health, "Oksana Chusovitina said.
