Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov will visit Iran on March 7, Trend cites Abbas Iskenderi, press-secretary of the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan.Mammadyarov will take part in the 8th session of the inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation as a co-chair. Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi will be a co-chair as well. The previous session was held in Baku in March 2008.

Shah Deniz contract prolonged to 2036

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) and its partners within the project of the development of the Shah Deniz deposit in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea signed an agreement on prolongation of the contract until 2036. The previous contract was until 2031. The agreement was signed in December 2010.

The ministry of ecology and natural resources of Azerbaijan published results of the monitoring of the Kura and the Araz rivers. Trend reports that according to the results of the analysis discharge of the Kura waters by industrial enterprises of Armenia and Georgia resulted in increasing biogenic substances in the river. Water pollution surpasses the standard by 2-4 times.

A multidisciplinary medical center is being built with Azerbaijani investment on Tbilisi's Agmashenebeli Avenue. The construction site was visited today by Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava.The new medical center is designed for 196 patients. After completion, the clinic will conduct operations on the heart, kidneys, lungs and stomach. It will also provide operations for organ transplants. The OSCE monitoring of Azerbaijani-Armenian contact line of forces saw no incidents registered, Trend reports. Monitoring was held along the road starting from the Bala village in Azerbaijan’s Jafarli Gazakh District and running to Kayan village in Armenia, deputy head of the press-service of Azerbaijani Defense Ministry Teymur Abdullayev said. Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova has presented the annual report to President Ilham Aliyev, 1news.az reports. According to the law, the ombudsman is to present the annual report on the work done within the first two months of each year. The report is presented to the president, parliament, the Cabinet, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court and the General Prosecutor’s Office. Suleymanov sent the report to Aliyev and the necessary structures on February 28.
