Azerbaijan marks 21st anniversary of Khojaly Massacre

 Azerbaijan is marking the 21st anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre of February 26, 1992, when 613 people were killed and over a thousand became handicapped. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev laid flowers to the memorial of victims of the tragedy at the Khatai District of Baku this morning. He was accompanied by Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Speaker of Parliament Oktay Asadov, head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mekhtiyev, his wife and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva.

Gaza Sector attacks Israel

 Hamas has renewed missile attacks on Israel for the first time since the peace agreement of November, the Israeli police reports.One missile destroyed part of a road at Ashkelon.30-year-old Arafat Jaradat, a Palestinian convict, died at an Israeli prison on February 23. About 4,500 Palestinian convicts started a mass hunger strike. The missile attack may be a response of solidarity.The Pillar of Cloud Operation in Gaza ended on November 21. Hamas agreed to stop attacks.

CIS monitoring mission calls Armenian presidential polls legitimate

 Executive Secretary of the CIS monitoring mission Sergey Lebedev said today that the presidential polls in Armenia were free, open, competitive and met demands of the international norms. No facts casting doubts in legitimacy of the elections have been registered, although minor violations happened, the official says.

 Aladdin Borujeri, head of the Iranian parliamentary commission for national security and foreign affairs, said that western states will never get the Fordow uranium-enrichment facility shut down, Reuters reports.The facility had been built in a mountain to protect it from air raids. Western states offered Iran to close the facility last week in exchange for lift of sanctions against trade of gold and precious metals. Borujerdi believes that the proposal would benefit Israel, not Iran.
