4 566 citizens of Georgia were deported from foreign countries in 2018, more than half of them – from Turkey and Israel , according to the Georgia’s migration profile 2019, InterPressNews reports.
More specifically, according to the report, there were 531 facts of deportation of Georgian citizens from Germany in 2018, 209 - from Russia, 1788 – from Turkey, 813- from Israel, 273- from France, 166 – from Austria, 108- from Belgium, 84 – from Switzerland, 83 – from Italy, 102 – from Sweden, 30 – from Finland, 58- from Greece, 44- from Spain, and 46- from Ukraine.
According to the report, the Eurostat data shows that the number of Georgian citizens who were told to leave the EU member states, has increased significantly in the last two years. The number of the citizens of Georgia, who were voluntarily or forcibly returned from the EU countries, has also been risen.
“It is noteworthy that the forced return of Georgian citizens from the EU / Schengen countries is mainly implemented within the readmission agreement. The number of readmission applications from the EU / Schengen countries has been increasing over the last 4 years. Most applications come from Germany, ”the report reads.
