Alexander Khloponin: there is no crisis in the Caucasus

The economic crisis in Russia has hardly touched on the North Caucasus, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin said.

"I can tell you that there is no crisis in the Caucasus at all. It's not an export-oriented region, which could be affected by the crisis. In fact, if you look closely, we are self-sufficient in terms of food security. The Caucasus is able to feed itself one hundred percent," RIA Novosti cited him as saying.

The Vice Premier noted that a significant part of the money was invested by the government. He also admitted that he does not see any risks to the North Caucasus. "Those funds, which are incorporated in the framework of the state programs for 2016-2017 and 2020, were optimized at only 10%. Our resort area and ski resorts are also developing, objects of social infrastructure will be built, now we are developing a new program, which, on the contrary, must be supported," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus, Odes Baysultanov, held a meeting yesterday on the results of the implementation of the federal target programs 'the South of Russia' (2014-2020) and 'the Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Ingushetia 2010-2016', the press service of the agency said.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of the North Caucasus, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Industry, as well as regions of the North Caucasus. They discussed the development of the federal budget and the budgets of the North Caucasus Federal District in 2015, RIA Dagestan reports.

Opening the meeting, Odes Baysultanov emphasized that in December the regions reported on a planned development of one hundred percent, but now a partial refund is expected.

Baysultanov recalled that the regions had enough time and ordered members to provide the documents, confirming the actual use of funds, on Monday for an understanding of the real situation.

In conclusion, the Deputy Minister for the North Caucasus invited the members of the working group to visit the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in February to inspect facilities.
