Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates Christmas
On Sunday, January 6, the Armenian Apostolic Church is celebrating Christmas and Epiphany, News.am reports.
On this occasion, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II is offering a special Divine Liturgy at the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.
After this special Divine Liturgy, the Armenian Apostolic Church performs a water blessing ceremony in memory of the baptism of Jesus. Subsequently, people take that water home as a blessing.
According to the Armenian Apostolic Church, Christ was baptized in the Jordan River on the same day 30 years after his birth, on January 6.
