Armenian press review (January 1-13)
Armenian mass media continue to sum up the results of the previous year and make forecasts for 2016. Zhamanak reports: "... it became known that the World Bank (WB) has decided to allocate Armenia another loan amounting to $55 million. If the money is not allocated, the Armenian economy will simply be destroyed, because it is very difficult and impossible to imagine in practice that the Armenian oligarchy can return social appropriation of public resources and private funds. It is sad to admit it, but in fact it is a paradoxical situation when, on the one hand, the increase of foreign loans is due to the fact that the so-called Armenian elite spread and assigned the government's potential, and on the other hand, this state is kept on a credit string provided by international financial institutions,'' the author concludes.
Chorrord Ishkhanutyu: "In recent days, Serzh Sargsyan tried to summarize the outgoing financial year, and even revealed some figures. According to the figures, it turns out that in 2015 the Armenian people lived much better than in the previous year. He said that this year the inflation rate was 4.1%, while the average salary increased by 8.5%. Anyone can certainly go out and try to find a person who lived better this year and you won't find such a person. But it does not matter. According to the document, Serzh Sargsyan believes that we live much better," the publication reports.
Chorrord Ishkhanutyun writes about the coming year of the Monkey, which is believed to be full of surprises, especially for those born under his sign.
"The most eccentric characters in the Armenian parliament were born in the year of the Monkey, who are always in the public spotlight regardless of the horoscope."
Zhamanak reports about the upcoming changes in the composition of the Armenian government.
"Sources close to the authorities report that changes in the Armenian government may happen in mid-January. Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan and Minister of Economy Karen Chshmaritian are to be dismissed. According to the same source, the governors of Armavir, Aragatsotn and Shirak will be replaced.
