Authorities: police in Chechnya attacked by teenagers

All participants in the recent attacks on police in Chechnya were teenagers, Chechnya’s Nationalities Policy, External Relations, and Press and Information Affairs Minister Jambulat Umarov said.

"The oldest of those who steered a motor vehicle into traffic police was under 17 years of age. According to information available at this point the youngest person in the car was 11," TASS cited the official as saying.

According to him, the ISIS (terrorist organization outlawed in Russia) had developed "special programs to brainwash teenagers," and the attackers’ average age tended to go down.

"Among the militants we often see boys aged 11-12. As for older ones, those who have brains, are far less frequent," Umarov added.
