Baku hosts international footvolley tournament

Today, the international footvolley tournament kicked off at Dalga Arena in Baku. The organizer of the competition is Azerbaijan Footnet Federation.

Teams from Brazil, Russia, Portugal, Azerbaijan, Iran, Austria, Pakistan and the Netherlands participate in the tournament. The prize fund of the tournament is 6 thousand manats.

Footvolley is a sport which combines aspects of beach volleyball and association football.

Vestnik Kavkaza spoke with the player of the Russian national team, Dmitry Bukurov, athletes from Austria Sascha Wegscheider and Jakob Hofmann Wellenhof and with the footvolley star from Brazil - Caspar Shlebukh.

Speaking about his impressions from the capital of Azerbaijan and organization of the competitions, Dmitry Bukurov said that this was not his first visit to Baku. "We have been visiting Baku since the beginning of the tournament organization and can testify that all the necessary conditions for the games have been created here." Our impressions on the five-point scale are ‘five and a plus’ the Russian athlete said.

Athletes from Austria, sharing their impressions of the competition, drew attention to the excellent organization of the tournament and the support of fans. ”We are here for the first time, I am delighted with this atmosphere. Everyone is friendly, it is very comfortable here. As for the organization of the competitions, everything is at the highest level. The impressions are magnificent!’’ Sascha Wegscheider said.

In his turn, Jacob Hoffmann-Wellenhoff also drew attention to the beauty of the Azerbaijani capital and the high level of organization of the tournament. "Baku is a beautiful city, I like everything here - amazing city architecture, combining traditions and innovation, amazing aquapark, and of course, it can not help but bring the wonderful sunny weather," he said.

Answering the question about the most powerful teams of the tournament, Caspar Shlebukh distinguished the national teams of Azerbaijan and Iran. "Azerbaijani athletes have improved greatly  their level, and I am sure that they will not stop there. I was also pleasantly surprised by Iran, I always knew that this is a wonderful team - last year they reached the finals in Baku,” he said, noting, that he is also pleased with the level of his own team.
