Britain sends warship to Black Sea
HMS Diamond Destroyer is due to set sail packed with the latest anti-aircraft missiles bound for the shores of Ukraine.
The Type 45 will help protect the 650 British troops who are involved in top secret exercises in Ukraine.
"The values of freedom and democracy cannot be traded. Britain is stepping up on the global stage and standing firm with our Ukrainian friends," Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said.
"The UK is sending a clear message that we are committed to defending democracy across the world and support Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,” he added.
HMS Diamond’s deployment comes as another 1000 British soldiers are due to be sent to Poland and Estonia alongside RAF Typhoon fighter jets being stationed in Romania, the Daily Star reports.
