Bundestag MP: Armenia should settle Karabakh conflict with Azerbaijan
The OSCE Minsk Group is of great importance to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, and the roles of Russia and France are particularly emphasized.
"The conflict should be settled peacefully. In that context we should closely cooperate with Azerbaijan, which will enable us to solve the problem not quickly, but slowly and reasonably," a German Bundestag MP Albert Weiler said in the interview with the Aravot newspaper.
According to the deputy, the reasonable solution of the issue presupposes a way of bilateral concessions. "We should make a decision with Azerbaijan, not against Azerbaijan. In this issue Russia, as one of the co-chairing countries of Minsk Group, can play a positive mediation role for the issue can be best resolved. That is, the expression of the good will of a third country would be beneficial, in the form of concessions from both sides," Weiler stressed.
The deputy added that Russia maintains very good relations with Armenia, but it has very good relations with Azerbaijan as well. "As a big country, it may have significant impacts on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, and any opportunity should be used for the peaceful resolution of the conflict," he added.
