Chaim Soutine exhibition will open in Moscow
Moscow's Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts will open the first exhibition in Russia devoted to the work of Russian-French painter of Jewish origin Chaim Soutine, the Director of the museum Marina Loshak said.
The exhibition titled 'Chaim Soutine: Retrospective' will open on October 24.
The exhibition will display not only Soutine's works, but also the masters of the old school, which influenced the artist, as well as works of contemporary artists inspired by his paintings.
The exhibition seeks to emphasise the roots of the creations of this painter who moved to Paris in 1912. Soutine’s works reflect the many hours spent studying the paintings of the great masters at the Louvre. Soutine undoubtedly influenced an entire generation of painters, and even shaped a new movement in international contemporary art.
