Denis Ablyazin: Baku Arena is awesome

Baku has an awesome gymnastics arena, Russian gymnast Denis Ablyazin said, speaking with Vestnik Kavkaza after performing in the ring exercise qualification at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.

"It's my first time in Baku. It’s a very big and beautiful city. So far I’ve only seen the embankment near our hotel. The weather is excellent here - it's warm and good," he said in the first place.

"Baku has an awesome arena, I liked it very much - a cozy practice hall, an excellent main hall. In general, everything is great here," Denis Ablyazin stressed, thanking the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation for organizing this tournament.

The gymnast noted that previously he was in the same team with the current members of the Azerbaijani national team Ivan Tikhonov and Nikita Simonov. "They used to represent Russia before. The guys are doing great, work hard," the Russian athlete added.

The FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup is held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku on March 14-17. According to the new rules, the World Cup is a qualifying event for Tokyo-2020 Summer Olympic Games. 170 gymnasts from 41 countries will contest medals at the tournament.
