Eduard Boyakov: Maxim Gorky Moscow Art Academic Theatre is in talks with Azerbaijan
The Maxim Gorky Moscow Art Academic Theatre is currently negotiating with Azerbaijan about carrying out tours in the country, art director of the Theater Eduard Boyakov announced today in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza.
"We're currently discussing tours in Baku. Final decision hasn't been made yet, but negotiations with Azerbaijan are serious. We were approached with such proposal after our theater had great success in touring Crimea and North Caucasus," he said.
Eduard Boyakov explained that the idea to invite the Theater to Azerbaijan was proposed just now since it began active touring activities. “Theater is starting a new life. Tours haven't been around for a very long time, and those big tours that have already ended are the first in many years,” he stressed.
He said that Caucasus and Russia are "inseparable." "We have enrolled students in GITIS, there are people from the North Caucasus and from Georgia among them," he noted.
"Multinationality is a characteristic of Russian culture in general, and Russian culture is at its core. One cannot exist without the other," he concluded.
