Egypt to fight terrorism in a new way
New anti-terrorism law has officially entered into force in Egypt. The text of the document, signed by the president of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi yesterday, is posted in the electronic version of the newspaper Al-Ahram.
According to available information, a life sentence (25 years in Egypt) or a death penalty awaits defendants in the organization and financing of terrorist groups. Creators of Web sites and pages in social networks, promoting extremism and calling for violence, will be sentenced to seven years in prison - TASS reports.
At the same time, new law exempts law enforcement officers who used force against suspected terrorists from criminal liability.
