Erdogan outlines women's role in Turkish society
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey pays particular attention to women's rights in the society.
"Discrimination against women is not possible. Because the nature and creation require that we look at all of the created with the same eyes. There is no gender-based discrimination in our culture or roots," Bianet cited him as saying.
"Today 17.5% of the Turkey's Grand National Assembly are women, this number is not sufficient, but the level and expression of a historic record," he said at the 3rd International Women and Justice Summit in İstanbul.
Erdogan also said that Turkey is number one country in terms of providing special care to its elderly.
