France prefers Putin's friend to Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron is one of the least popular politicians in the country, according to the latest Ifop/Fiducial personality rankings for Paris Match and Sud-Radio.
Macon ranked 18th most popular among French politicians — alongside his predecessor François Hollande — in the telephone poll of more than 1,000 people conducted on February 8-9, with 36% of respondents saying they had "positive opinions" about the head of state.
French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe ranked 4th, viewed positively by 47% of participants. The same percentage said they had a "poor opinion" of the PM, Politico reported.
The popularity rankings were topped by former ecology transition minister Nicolas Hulot, who quit the government in August 2018. Hulot's satisfaction rating dipped two points to 73%.
National Rally President Marine Le Pen lost three points, with an overall score of 30%.
