France ready to organize meeting between Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan
French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said that France is ready to organize a meeting between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"If the parties intend to negotiate and sign a peace agreement, France is ready to organize a conference," he explained.
"France, along with Russia and the US is a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and tries to resolve the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan by peaceful means through negotiations. Such conflicts can be resolved only through diplomacy," TASS cited him as saying.
In addition, the head of the French foreign ministry opposed the preservation of the status quo in the conflict. "Preservation of the status quo is a political choice, complicating the situation," he said.
He also noted that France will continue to act as mediator until the conflict is resolved.
