Georgia and Turkey to cooperate in field of culture
A government delegation of Turkey led by Prime Minister Binali Yildirim is on an official visit to Tbilisi. The delegation signed a program on cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of culture for 2017-2018.
According to the agreement, the countries will cooperate in such spheres of art as theater, cinema, literature, cultural heritage, as well as in other strategic directions.
"According to the document, the parties will carry out the restoration of the monuments of the Ottoman heritage located in Georgia and the monuments of the Georgian heritage located on the territory of Turkey. They will also ensure the cooperation of the competent bodies and the creation of a joint working group," the Georgian Ministry of Culture said.
The process of cooperation between Georgia and Turkey in the field of cultural heritage will consist of several stages, at first the parties will approve a joint action plan. Prior to the beginning of the restoration process, the parties will conduct a comprehensive - archaeological, geological, art and construction - study of monuments in accordance with the methodological principles and the standards of international documentation defined by the International Council on Monuments and Sites.
