Hikmet Hajiyev: Nagorno-Karabakh conflict not frozen
The withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijan’s occupied lands could speed up the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hikmet Hajiyev, said in an interview with the Israeli İ24news TV channel.
According to him, the ceasefire regime is relative, but it "could create favorable conditions and atmosphere for de-occupation and eliminating the conflict’s consequences,” because the conflict isn't frozen.
Hajiyev noted that every time, on the eve of a meeting between the two presidents, Yerevan stages provocations which deliberately aggravate the situation.
"This time, following the meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs in Bern, the same thing happened. Armenia’s true goal is to prevent the conflict’s settlement," Trend cited Hajiyev as saying.
