IRGC claims U.S. 'spy' drone shot down - media
Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards have shot down a U.S. 'spy' drone in the southern province of Hormozgan, which is on the Gulf, according to the Guards’ news website Sepah News.
"It was shot down when it entered Iran’s airspace near the Kouhmobarak district in the south," the Guards’ website added.
State news agency IRNA carried the same report, identifying the drone as an RQ-4 Global Hawk.
A spokesman for the U.S. military’s Central Command, Navy Captain Bill Urban said no U.S. aircraft were flying over Iran on Wednesday. "No U.S. aircraft were operating in Iranian airspace today," Reuters cited the spokesman as saying.
