Iran dubs announcement of U.S. naval deployment ‘gauche' psy-war attempt
It is unlikely that U.S. commanders and military forces would be willing to test the proven capabilities of the armed forces of Iran, Iran's Supreme National Security Council's spokesman Keivan Khosravi said, reacting to the U.S. announcement of carrier strike group deployment.
"Bolton's statement is a clumsy use of an out-of-date event for psychological warfare," Tasnim cited Khosravi as saying.
The spokesperson argued that Bolton "lacks military and security understanding and his remarks are mostly meant to draw attention to himself."
Earlier, U.S. Acting Secretary of Defence Patrick Shanahan earlier confirmed U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton's statement regarding U.S. deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln and a bomber task force to the US Central Command region, intended to send a message to Tehran.
