Juncker says not in favour of ending EU accession talks with Turkey
The President of the European Commission Jean Claude-Juncker said he is not opposed to Turkey joining, despite the nation’s fallout with Germany.
"I am not in favour of ending the accession talks with Turkey, which is a demand from the European Parliament. But the fact is that Turkey is moving away from its self-imposed obligation to become a member of the European Union almost every minute," Juncker said.
"It’s not the EU that joins Turkey, but it’s Turkey joining the EU," Daily Express cited him as saying.
Juncker added that Turkey is the EU's neighbor, it can’t simply let it slip into oblivion.
