Kaladze: banks to offer taxi drivers cheaper loans
Taxi drivers will be provided with cheaper bank loans, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
Starting July 1 taxi drivers will be divided into categories A and B and banks will offer cheap loans to category A drivers.
Kaladze said the government has already held consultations with the banks, adding that the taxi drivers encounter difficulties when taking loans as they have no fixed income.
"The banks will make a statement regarding the offer to the drivers in three or four days,” Agenda.ge cited the mayor as saying.
Category B license holders will be permitted to work for taxi applications such as Taxify or Uber and provide their services to the Tbilisi population; they will not be allowed to take a passenger directly from the street.
