Kazakh National Security Committee denies existence of Liberation Army

The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan has denied the existence of the organization 'Liberation Army of Kazakhstan', which allegedly claimed responsibility for the armed attacks in Aktobe.

The National Security Committee said that the 'Liberation Army of Kazakhstan' does not exist.

In this regard, the KNB urged the local media "to apply to KNB for confirmation or a comment" when republishing or citing "foreign nonofficial media."

The KNB also recalled that, in accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 242-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "spread of false information is subject to fine or 2-5 years imprisonment."
