Kvirikashvili: France supports Georgia
The Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian discussed issues of cooperation, as well as the need to combat terrorism, the governmental website reports.
The sidfes also emphasized Georgia's contribution to the peacekeeping operation in the Central African Republic under the auspices of the European Union.
"Georgia has a mission to join the Alliance. We will soon make a proposal for action so that Georgia is able to develop effective means of ensuring its air defence, which is central to its sovereignty," Le Drian told reporters.
Ministers also discussed the prospects of cooperation in the defense sphere. "We consider your visit as a firm support for Georgia from France," Sputnik Georgia cited Kvirikashvili as saying.
Earlier, Jean-Yves Le Drian met with the Georgian Ministry of Defense Levan Izoria.
