Kvirikashvili stresses importance of Karasin-Abashidze format
The new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, stressed the importance of the 'Karasin-Abashidze negotiations format' in improving relations between Moscow and Tbilisi.
"We should have no illusions that some major problems can be solved in a day or two ... It is much more advantageous to be in communication with the most difficult opponent, so we have these formats, and I will not accept the criticism that this format should not exist," Sputnik Georgia cited him as saying.
"The 'Karasin-Abashidze negotiations format' works, the humanitarian and economic issues are being discussed. The extension of this format, I think, is impossible because of political issues, and we have the Geneva format for political issues, which we must save," the Foreign Minister said.
