Le Pen gathers endorsements needed to join presidential race
The French presidential candidate from National Front (FN) party, Marine Le Pen, gathered 500 signatures of French politicians, FN Secretary General Nicolas Bay said.
"As we are speaking, [Marine Le Pen] has gathered the endorsements. She passed the 500 endorsements mark today," Bay said on his Twitter.
According to the French Constitutional Council, on Tuesday, Le Pen was lacking 17 signatures, while her main rivals Francois Fillon and Emmanuel Macron gathered roughly triple and double the amount of required endorsements, respectively.
The first round of the French presidential election is slated for April 23, while the run-off between the top two candidates is expected to take place on May 7.
