Moscow and Baku to form high-level inter-parliamentary commission in near future - source
Russian and Azerbaijani MPs are planning to organize a parliamentary conference in the Russian State Duma in the near future, a diplomatic source in Baku said.
“It is also expected that a document on cooperation, on the creation of a high-level inter-parliamentary commission, will be signed at the event,” RIA Novosti cited the source as saying.
The source added that the event is expected to discuss the development of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation and the prospects for the activities of the inter-parliamentary commission.
In June, chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin proposed to create a relevant commission during an official visit to Baku. In September, a delegation of the Russian State Duma led by Vice-Speaker Sergei Neverov made a visit to Azerbaijan.
In October, in the framework of the third meeting of the Speakers of the Eurasia countries' parliaments in Antalya Volodin met with Speaker of the Milli Majlis Oktay Asadov. The sides agreed that the intensity of meetings between the presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev should serve as an example for the parliaments of both countries. Volodin then reported that the work on the formation of the inter-parliamentary commission is at the final stage.
