New U.S. Ambassador to Turkey arrives in Ankara
Newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Turkey David Satterfield arrived in Ankara yesterday.
"We're pleased to announce that U.S. Ambassador-Designate to Turkey, David M. Satterfield, arrived in Ankara. Welcome to Turkey!" the U.S. Embassy in Ankara said on Twitter.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced Satterfield's candidacy on February, 16. The U.S. Senate designated him on June 28, Daily Sabah reported.
John Bass was the last serving American ambassador to Ankara in 2014-2017.
Bass, who now serves as new U.S. envoy to Afghanistan, left Turkey in October 2017 amid a visa crisis between Washington and Ankara. The post has since been vacant.
