Qatar invites OPEC members and other producers to oil meeting
Qatar has invited all OPEC members and major producers from outside the exporting group to attend talks in Doha on April 17.
The Qatari Ministry of Energy notes that the purpose of the meeting is to freeze output at January levels to support the global oil market, Bloomberg reports.
Earlier, OPEC’s secretary general Abdallah Salem el-Badri said that all OPEC members will be invited to a meeting in Doha, but not all countries will be able to take part in it. "I hope the result of the meeting will be positive," the head of the cartel said.
"I don't expect the price will go high but I think it will go to a moderate level," Interfax cited OPEC’s secretary general as saying.
