Russian figure skater sets world record

Russian figure skater Yevgenia Medvedeva set a new world record at the Grand Prix Figure Skating in Marseille.

A 17-year-old athlete scored 79.21 points in her short program. Thus, she broke the previous world record (78.66 points) set by Japanese Mao Asada in 2014, RT reports.

The world record in the long program also belongs to Medvedeva. She scored 150.10 points on April 3, 2016 at the World Figure Skating Championship in Boston.
