Seyyed Zia Hashemi: Caspian news agencies play very important role
Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Seyyed Zia Hashemi, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, welcomed the holding of the 6th News Agencies World Congress in Sofia.
"Thanks to the Congress, we have an opportunity to discuss urgent problems, the activities of news agencies and the future partnership, thereby contributing to our cooperation," he said in the fist place.
"All news agencies in the world have their own problems now, especially with regard to interaction with key media. There is a problem of fake news, as well as the issue of mistrust in news sources. All these challenges led to the need for hosting the 6th News Agencies World Congress in Sofia. Here we have an opportunity to discuss cooperation in solving these problems with representatives of almost all the global news agencies," the Managing Director of IRNA noted.
"A very important issue is the cooperation of news agencies covering the Caspian region. The news agencies of this region have a very important role - they tell about what's going on in the Caspian region, including in Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan. There is the Association of Caspian Sea News Agencies (ACSNA), news agencies of the Caspian countries are represented in the Congress, and we want to expand our cooperation with these agencies. I also spoke with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, and now we want to prepare an appropriate meeting and expand our information cooperation within the Caspian region," Seyyed Zia Hashemi said.
