Trump to keep contingent of U.S. peacekeeping troops in Syria
A small contingent of U.S. troops will remain in Syria following President Donald Trump's order for a "full" withdrawal of the American military from the country, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.
"A small peace keeping group of about 200 will remain in Syria for (a) period of time," CNN cited Sanders as saying.
In December, Trump ordered staff to execute the "full" and "rapid" withdrawal of U.S. military from Syria, declaring that the U.S. had defeated ISIS. The U.S. currently has more than 2,000 troops in Syria.
