Turkey has not plans to start new operation in Syria

There is no further need at this stage for Turkey to conduct a new operation in northern Syria, the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a written statement.

The statement underlined that at the end of a 120-hour pause, the U.S. reported that the withdrawal of the PKK/YPG terror group from the region was completed.

It also stressed that within the scope of an agreement reached in Sochi, joint work with Russia will begin as of October 23, Anadolu Agency reported.

Russian military police will start patrolling the Syrian side of the border with Turkey today. That will help to ensure the withdrawal of the Kurdish Self-Defense Forces from the area within 150 hours. Moscow thus drew a line for Ankara’s military campaign in Syria, which began on October 9 and was suspended last week after the U.S.-brokered ceasefire.
