Turkish army kills 48 ISIS militants in Syria

Turkish-led air and ground operations in Syria killed 48 ISIS militants on Sunday while Turkish warplanes destroyed 23 buildings and shelters used by the jihadists, Turkey's armed forces said in a statement on Monday.

"Turkish jets targeted 23 ISIS positions in Bzagah, Suflaniyah, Zammar and Amiya districts, destroying 10 defense positions, three headquarters and 10 shelters belonging to terrorists. 48 ISIS members were killed by Turkish airstrikes," Reuters cited the statement as saying.

Turkey launched the 'Euphrates Shield' operation in support of Syrian rebels more than four months ago to drive ISIS from the border and in recent weeks they have been besieging the Islamic State-controlled town of al-Bab.
