U.S. Congressmen: Communist China should not host 2022 Olympics
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Representative Chris Smith (R-N.J.) said Communist China should not be allowed to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games because of its “grotesque” human rights violations, CNS News reported.
The congressmen made their remarks at a press conference hosted by the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.
At the conference, Sen. Rubio, chairman of the CECC, said the Commission will urge the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to reassign the 2022 Olympics, which are currently set to take place in Beijing.
“We will be urging the president of the International Olympic Committee to take steps to review and ultimately reassign the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, given the current grotesque human rights violations, beginning with these horrific camps,” Sen. Rubio said.
