US admits Russia's resurgence
Washington has a poor relationship with a resurgent Russia now, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said.
According to the Secretary of State, the Trump administration had "no illusions about the regime we are dealing with" and that they were "on guard against Russian aggression".
"On Russia, we have no illusions about the regime we are dealing with. The United States today has a poor relationship with a resurgent Russia that has invaded its neighbors Georgia and Ukraine in the last decade and undermined the sovereignty of Western nations by meddling in our election and others," the New York Times cited him as saying.
But Tillerson added that Washington needed to "recongize the need to work with Russia where mutual interests intersect" citing Syria civil war where the two countries have backed opposing sides but pushed for peace talks.
