Vladimir Medinsky: traditional libraries will not survive
The head of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Medinsky, in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel said today that the life of traditional libraries is coming to an end. ‘’A library has a little chance of surviving as a book storage in the 21st century, unless it is some exclusive, great library. Libraries will have to be reconstructed," he said, stressing that libraries are visited less and less.
In this regard, he proposed transforming them into ‘full awareness and educational centers, places of cultural activities of people,’ where you can learn the news, read, drink coffee, buy and exchange books.
