Vladislav Shurygin: FBOP is another heinous provocation against relations between Russia and Azerbaijan
Editor-in-chief of the “Journalistic Truth” newspaper, Vladislav Shurygin, told “Komsomolskaya Pravda” radio that he condemns attempts to create discord between Russia and Azerbaijan, demonstrated by promotion of videos in social media by the so-called FBOP group (for the benefit of people).
Posts about this group appeared shortly after the speech of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the 16th meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, during which he emphasized that relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are of strategic importance.
"There is a very active political dialogue between our countries, regular meetings of the heads of state and other officials contribute to deepening of our cooperation," Ilham Aliyev said, adding that economic cooperation between the two countries is growing.
Vladislav Shurygin said that this "group" is a provocation, the purpose of which is to try to create discord between the peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan.
Shurygin noted that "Azerbaijani diaspora is one of the few diasporas with whom we have never had any ethnic conflicts even in the difficult times like the 90s." "Moreover, Russia is an ideal place where even during the most difficult years of the Karabakh conflict, both Azerbaijanis and Armenians worked together, and no one made any complaints to anyone, because Russia equalized everyone."
He said that the Azerbaijani embassy negatively assessed this provocation against Russian-Azerbaijani relations.
