Zakharova: Pentagon new military budget pushes Russia-U.S. relations into dead end
The United States’ new military budget reaffirms Washington’s policy of world domination with reliance on military force, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"The bill on 2019 national defense spending caps the US President [Donald Trump] signed into law in fact reaffirms the policy of building up Washington’s dominating role in the world scene from the position of strength," TASS cited the diplomat as saying.
"The unprecedented inflation of the military budget to $716 billion, a record-high for the past fifteen years, is causing a destructive effect on the existing system of international security," the spokeswoman stressed.
She also pointed out that the budget provided for funding projects in accordance with anti-Russian and anti-Chinese guidelines identified in the national security and national defense strategies and the US Nuclear Posture Review.
Zakharova said that such measures by Washington are an obstacle to putting Russian-U.S. relations on the constructive track and push them into a dead end.
