Azerbaijan’s SOCAR enters US market
The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) has opened an office in Washington and plans to open one in Houston, SOCAR Vice President Vitaly Beglyarbekov said at the Oil, Gas and Media Conference in Baku yesterday, Turan reports.
SOCAR has 96 gasoline stations and a gas distribution network in Georgia, Petkim petrochemical facility and plans to build a refinery in Izmir in Turkey, about 30 gasoline stations in Ukraine, 14 gasoline stations in Romania, 170 gasoline stations and jet fueling in Zurich and Geneva in Switzerland. SOCAR Trading has been operating in Switzerland since 2008.
SOCAR offers assistance in building underwater facilities, geological and geophysical services and pipeline construction. CDC, a subsidiary of SOCAR, plans to start drilling at the Israeli shelf of the Mediterranean Sea in October.
