Azerbaijan to build over 60 small dams

Azerbaijan has hydro potential to produce 40 billion KW/h and technical potential for 16 billion KW/h. Small dams may produce 5 billion KW/h, Trend reports.

The State Company for Alternate Energy says that the country would benefit by building over 60 small dams on rivers. It would electrify residential areas annd reduce dependence on fuel.

The Minister of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan, Ali Abbasov, and the head of the international relations of the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN), Rudiger Voss, have met in Baku. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is going to establish new gas-filling stations in Georgia. The company now has around two dozens of gas-filling stations in the country and about one hundred petrol stations, Azerbaijani news agency Trend reports.

 SOCAR puts a platform at the Chilov field into operation SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) soon plans to put into operation a new extraction platform at the Chilov field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, a company announcement reads. Construction of a platform is already complete. It is calculated to drill 10 extraction wells, Trend reports.
