Azerbaijan to build over 60 small dams

Azerbaijan has hydro potential to produce 40 billion KW/h and technical potential for 16 billion KW/h. Small dams may produce 5 billion KW/h, Trend reports.

The State Company for Alternate Energy says that the country would benefit by building over 60 small dams on rivers. It would electrify residential areas annd reduce dependence on fuel.

The Azerbaijani Cabinet has declared formation of the protected sanitary zone of the Apsheron National Park. The zone covers 3,000 meters from the Caspian Sea and 2,000 meters from the park line. Overall, the economic zone will be moved at least 5km away from the coastline, reports.
