Kazakhstan to build new nuclear power plant

Kazakhstan plans to build a new nuclear power plant. Kristina Podshivalova of the Kazatomprom National Atomic Company says that a southern region will most likely be chosen for the facility, Trend reports.

She said that the president had ordered composition of a map for energy balance in the country. It will be used to decide where to build the power plant.

Aktau is one of the platforms for construction. Its BN 350 reactor was shut down in 1999. The local nuclear power plant was used for purification of water.
