New Kavkaz Highway section opens in North Ossetia
Alexander Khloponin, Russian Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District, said that a new 12-km section of the Kavkaz Federal Highway was opened to bypass Beslan.
The new road has 4 lines and runs through Krasnodar, Grozny, Makhachkala up to the Azerbaijani border. It was constructed ahead of the 2-year schedule. A 10-km section with 4 lines will be built bypassing Vladikavkaz in the future.
The highway will be 37.5km long after completion of all the construction initiatives. The Georgian Military Road will be connected with the Kavkaz Highway without passing all the residential areas of North Ossetia.
