Joint venture of Azerbaijan and Turkey to operate transport on Caspian Sea
Turkey and Azerbaijan can open a joint venture for streamlining and improving maritime transport on the Caspian Sea. The proposal was made by the Turkish side. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Shipping and Communications of Turkey, Elvan Lutfi.
The need to establish a joint venture is related, according to the Ministry of Construction, with the upcoming opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
"This issue [cooperation in the field of maritime transport in the Caspian Sea - VK] is the subject of negotiations with Azerbaijan, and we are ready to create a joint venture in which we can act as a shareholder," Elvan is quoted by the news agency Trend.
