Iranian company plans to launch power plants in Georgia

The Iranian MEPCO Group is in negotiations with Georgia and Tajikistan to sign power-related agreements, MEPCO Group's Commercial Manager Elmira Salmanpour said.


According to Salmanpour, MEPCO Group is planning to build two power plants in Georgia and a project with Tajikistan is under discussion.She stated that the company is willing to do business with neighboring countries, but one major problem is the economic sanctions on Iran, which are crippling business.Tehran currently sells electricity to Armenia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iraq and Afghanistan.
