Russian condemns expulsion of Syrian ambassadors

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called expulsion of Syrian ambassadors from western states counter-productive, RIA Novosti reports.
The peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis can only be carried out through bilateral talks of the states with Syria, he said. Spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich said that Kofi Annan’s plan cannot be fulfilled without encouragement of the Syrian government.
States of the Fridns of Syria Group expelled Syrian ambassadors after the massacre in Houla on May 25 that resulted in over 100 peaceful citizens killed.
