The postal services of Russia and the Georgian breakaway republic of Abkhazia are going to enhance bilateral ties. Mail will be now delivered directly to the republic and not via Georgia as it was before. A corresponding agreement was signed today by the Post Office of Russia and the Abkhazsvyaz company.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the international conference on Syria hosted by Geneva will be attended by ministers, RIA Novosti reports.The foreign minister emphasized that it was essential to gain support of the conference from Syrian opposition and government.Lavrov had negotiations with US Secretary of State John Kerry. They agreed to continue the Geneva talks started on June 30, 2012. Some EU states agreed to take part in the forum.
