Iraq to bring forces to Turkish border
Iraq wants approval of the Kurdish Autonomy to bring forces to the Turkish border and stop air raids against militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on its territory, head of the committee for security of the Iraqi parliament Iskender Vitvit said, Trend reports.
The Iraqi government considers lifting the deal signed between Turkey and Iraq on presence of Turkish forces. Vitvit believes that it violates sovereignty.
Iraq has urged Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to avoid operations in Iraq.
The conflict of Turkey and PKK has been ongoing for over 25 years and resulted in over 40,000 people dead. PKK is striving to form an independent Kurdish country.
